A: Sounds like they are refills and someone put the wrong ink in your cartridge. Verify the red is coming from the "black" cartridge: take it out and look at the gold print head. Gently run a piece of paper across the print head and see if there's red ink residue. If there is, then yes, you have red ink in a black cartridge. If the ink in that one is black, then it's probably a setting that's telling your computer to print red instead of black, maybe in the color profile settings in your printer driver.
