Q: the error says it can not connect to the device. My printer is indeed hooked up to my computer as I am able to scan and print
A: There are two possible solutions to the problem: * Uninstall the DLA software. The DLA software will no longer be available. * Edit the Windows registry to correct the problem. Will not disable the DLA software but requires editing the Windows registry. If a mistake is made while editing the registry, Windows may not function correctly. Perform the solution below that works best for you. If you experience a problem, contact HP for assistance. Solution #1: Uninstall the DLA software Follow the steps below to uninstall the DLA software to correct the problem: 1. Disconnect the USB cable to the HP all-in-one and then uninstall the software following the directions in HP document Uninstalling the HP All-in-One Software (bpu01843) 2. After uninstalling the all-in-one software, click Start and then click Control Panel . 3. Click Add or Remove Programs . 4. Locate and click the following: * For IBM computers, click IBMDLA . * For HP computers, click HPDLA If you are experiencing this problem on a computer other than a HP or IBM, the software name will most likely end in DLA . If you cannot locate a file with DLA in the name, and have an HP computer, perform Solution #2 below. 5. Click Change/Remove and then follow the directions to uninstall the DLA software. 6. Close any open screens and restart the computer. 7. Reinstall the all-in-one software. Solution #2: Edit the Windows registry for HP computers Use this solution only if you have an HP computer. Computers from companies other than HP may have different registry keys. Contact your computer manufacturer for assistance. Follow the steps below to edit the Windows registry to correct the problem. 1. Make a System Restore Point so that if you make a mistake, the computer can be restored to its current state. Follow the steps below to create a restore point: 1. Click Start , click All Programs , click Accessories , click System Tools , and then click System Restore . 2. Click Create a restore point and then click Next . 3. Follow the remaining directions. Close any open windows when finished. 2. Click Start , and then click Run . 3. Type regedit on the Open line, and then click OK to open the Registry Editor. CAUTION: Follow these directions exactly. If you make a mistake, Windows may not work correctly. 4. Click the plus (+) next to Class . 9. Click the {4D36E967-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} registry key to highlight it and view its contents on the right. 10. In the right pane of the window, right-click LowerFilters if it is present. Then click Delete and confirm the deletion. 11. In the right pane of the window, right-click UpperFilters if it is present. Click Delete and confirm the deletion. 12. Close the Registry Editor and restart the computer. 13. Click Start , right-click My Computer , and then click Properties . 14.
