Why do my pictures print blurry but they are fine on my screen?

Q: I have a Sony DSC-F717 Digital Camera. When I take a picture on it, the image appears fine on the screen and view finder. My printer would print the images blurry, so I canned the computer and just bought a very nice HP. Well, the first picture I print, after it aligned itself, printed exactly the same way. This printer has a 3.5 inch screen and I can see the picture and it looks fine. The pictures actually look Monet-ish. I don't want to waste money on another piece of equipment and the same thing happen. Does anyone have any ideas? If you were paying attention, I specifically said that I just bought a new printer.

A: The printer is fine. The problem is on a 3,5 inch screen everything looks great! The problem lies when you blow those pictures up your viewable is easily much more than 3.5 inches. Any imperfections are going to be magnified. You have a really nice camera. Play with your setting, exposure times and sharpness settings to ensure you are taking a high resolution picture.
