Q: I have a desktop and a laptop. The printer is hooked up to the desktop. I was wondering how to add the printer to my laptop, but by keeping it hooked to the desktop. (i want the laptop to send a signal to the printer to print) thanks.
A: If both your computers are using a router (wired for the desktop and wireless for the laptop), then you can share the printer from the desktop and print to it from the laptop. Once you turn on printer sharing on the desktop and share the printer, make a note of the computer name of the desktop. Then go to your laptop and run the add printer wizard, selecting network printer. Type in two backslashes, then the name of the computer, then another backslash. With any luck, the printer will show up. If it doesn't, type in the share name of the printer. Then continue through the install. Good Luck
