Q: I use windows XP, & have just installed an HP Deskjet F2100, All-In-One Printer. Each time I switch on the computer, I get, "Found new Hardware" I had a Small Lexmark printer before & It was aways fine. Any Ideas???
A: OK click through and let it look for a driver and find it or not, so it does what it is going to do, It's USB right? Did you plug it in before you loaded the drivers? If you did Windows may have tagged it as an unknown device and now there's a conflict Leave it plugged in and on, go to the control panel / system / hardware device manager, anything flagged in there, if it is right click it and uninstall it Now unplug the printers USB cord Go to the control panel / add, remove program and remove any entries related to your printer/scanner Restart if it tells you it needs to, other wise you don't need to Now run the CD for the printer/scanner, and follow the prompts if it says plug it in go ahead otherwise wait till it is done, then plug it in We went to the software uninstall so we clear any extra entries in the add/remove list, or any registry entries from the old installation, it's the long way (you might not have too) but it's neater Most USB devices need the driver and "inf" file in the system before being plugged in
