Q: How can I find whether the printer is a network printer or a standalone printer?
A: Network printers normally have an ethernet network port on the back of them. Standalone printers normally have memory card slots or some kind of media reading drive on them so you can put a memory card or disc in with something you want to print out without having to plug a computer in to it. Some printers are all singing and dancing and have both the memory card slots and the network port. Don't confuse network printers with a shared printer. Any printer that can be connected to a computer or print server can be shared over a network. Only network printers can be plugged directly in to a network.
