Q: i have wire less network in my house and was wondering how i can make my printer wire less to.do i need to buy a special device?
A: This can be done multiple ways, it all depends what your budget is and where you plan to put your printer Wireless print server-You can get a wireless print server and just connect the USB or parallel port to it, you may need to install drivers on one computer and set that computer to share the printer, some will work by it's IP address (//xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/printername), it all depends on what model you get, it should come with directions of how to set it up Wired print server- same as a wireless print server, except you have to connect an ethernet cable to the wireless router, it should work similar to the wireless print server, a wired print server may cost less than a wireless one Ethernet compatible printer-there are some printers with an ethernet port on them, simply connect the printer to a wireless router, some require you to get a special adapter, so you plug the adapter to the printer, then plug an ethernet cable from the adapter to the wireless router, you should be able to connect to it the same as a print server Wi-Fi compatible printer-there are some printers with Wi-Fi compatibility, some require you to connect an antenna included with the printer and some come with the antenna built-in, some require you to get a Wi-Fi adapter, you should be able to connect to it the same as a print server Print hosting computer/server-you can plug your printer directly to your computer like normal, then set your computer to share that printer, you do the new printer wizard and select network printer, type "//computername/printername" without quotes using your computer name where is says computername and your printer's name where is says printername, so for example, if i named my computer livingroom, and the printer was an HP DeskJet xxxx (xxxx meaning specific model) it would look like "//livingroom/DeskJet xxxx" or something like that, and make shure that all of the computers are on the same network
