A: No, that is not true. The data should stay on the ipod unless something is wrong with that itself. It had it's own memory for a reason. The computer only transfers songs onto the memory, allowing you to play it anywhere you like. Being the reason it's a portable music player... If the songs don't show up, you might need to install programs to read them. Look at the total space taken up on the ipod, I'm sure the data is there, you must need the right application to use it.
