Q: Ok, so i just want to make sure that my motherboard will be able to handle the ram im about to get. I know that I can only handle ddr, im not sure what the difference is between dual ddr and regular is, but anyway: this is what I want to get 4x http://cgi.ebay.com /ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=370086467519 so yea, will it work?
A: Dunno'! Your link doesn't work! The Abit IC7-G uses DDR at 400MHz, or PC3200 (Same/same) Will support up to 4GB's of it. Has four slots, so that means to me that the Maximum Amount of ram for each slot is 1GB. Hmmmm, let's take a look, http://www.uabit.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=32&Itemid=48&page=6&model=4 (PDF Motherboard Manual download page. I wound up using the ->HTTP Download. The place where it just say's-> Download, wouldn't work. The Server connection dropped everytime. This is probably because it's a discontinued motherboard, and their not going to waste the server on a PDF file download. Took a little over a minute to download with a medium speed DSL connection. Why am I telling you this? because if you have the Motherboard Manual, you will know all about your motherboard. Click on SAVE. This will go to your desktop,(Or maybe your My Documents folder. SHOULD go to your desktop screen), screen where you double-click on it. It's a Zip file, so you will have a small window pop-up. Click on 'Extract All Files' in the upper left corner. Click on Next in the Wizard, and on Next again. NOW, it will be in your My Documents folder. From now on, you just have to click on Start>My Documents, and double-click right on this file name-> iC7-g_eng_v1.01.pdf (WRONG about THAT one! It said it was going to my My Documents folder. It's on my desktop screen also! lol! It's a yellow folder with the name next to it. Just double-click on it. You can move it to your My Documents folder. OH, and by the way, It's in Chinese writing and German, besides English! Page 17 starts the English part) Not a bad Ol' board! The Maximum Amount for each ram slot is 1GB. You're pretty much safe with just getting DDR Sdram at 400MHz (PC3200) DDR Sdram isn't very 'picky'. Just MAKE SURE the ram stick isn't larger than 1GB! (1024MB's) You motherboard won't run any larger than 1GB in each slot. You can install up to 4GB's. (4x1GB for 4 slots) http://www.uabit.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=32&Itemid=48&page=2&model=4 Edit: Had to come back and change the first link above. It took you to the Abit page for the mobo, and told you features at a glance. I fixed that, and now it's the download page for the PDF Motherboard Manual. Remember! Click on the HTTP Download! The bottom link, is the Abit page for the specifications of your mobo.
