How do I tell what CPU and Video Card my computer has?

Q: I want to know if there is a way that I can find out what Video card or CPU my computer is running. The catch? I'd prefer not to open it up, because I use it for some important things and my Laptop is currently on the fritz. I will accept software (Only if free) suggestions and such, but if you say "Just open up the computer" or something similar, you won't get best answer. I'm using a home-made desktop, by the way.

A: If you're using windows, go to the "My Computer" icon, right-click, and press "Properties". It should tell you the specs of the computer.
