backing up your pc??????????/?

Q: how many cd or dvd does it take when you back up your pc? i never done this before so i am curious

A: It all depends on how much information you want to back up. You can usually count on about 50% compression when making an image of your data or hard drive or volume. So if you have say 100 GB of information you want to back up into an image file, then you will need about 50 GB of space or about 12 DVDs. My suggestion is to do what I do when backing up my library files. I have about 150 GB of library files that I usually like to back up, which consist of music, videos, pictures, document files etc. I have an external hard drive attached to my system at the USB port. You can purchase a nice 500 GB external hard drive for only about $ 120.00 these days. I simply back up and image my 150 GB worth of files to my external hard drive every month or so. Basically then I can hold up to 3 months worth of backups at any one time. When I need to backup the 4th month, I just over-write my oldest backup from 3 months prior. THis way I always have 3 months worth of backups on my external hard drive at all times. This is what I would suggest you do. It is really simple and takes only about 2 hours to backup or so. I usually do this at night time when I am sleeping.
