Q: ok this is my really old computer http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/prodinfoCategory?lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&lang=en&product=83455 And i want to upgrade by putting windows xp pro add two 2GB DDR memory cards, and a 500GB hard drive i also want to put a better Processor but don't know which one yet. what that be a good upgrade also how do i go about finding the right processor for this mother board.
A: As the information says, you can only use Intel processors of P4 and celeron with socket 478. But if you want 2 gig ram, get a new mother board that supports DDR2 and SATA2. A new processor and power supply unit and video card will also be required. So basically a full system upgrade. If you want a budget computer, it won't cost much. Probably a third of the price of brand new computers (which are so called "Quality Brands" which are not). Get intel core 2 processors as amd is no longer the best and most reliable.
