Q: I Know midi doesn't produce sound etc but i would like to know how i can use my new midi keyboard at practice with my band and onstage performing. I run the keyboard via USB on my sony vaio laptop and want to know how i link it to speakers or an amp ?? so that everyone can hear the sound , If anyone can help it would be much appreciated as i have a gig in two weeks . Thankssss
A: I really don't recommend trying to use your laptop's sound card as an output for a stage performance or brand practice. it will be a very weak signal. You'll need to look at getting something like the Mbox 2 that allows MIDI input and you can run your outs into the mixer form the Mbox 2. That will give a much more quality sound. Also get Reason. That's the way to go with a MIDI Keyboard and stage performance.
