Q: I just bought a second hand Dell desktop, to replace the ancient thing I bought 7 years ago! So far so good, all seems to be working well and compatible with the TV, Networking cards etc that I'm just transferring from the old computer (these are a bit newer) On the DELL the monitor port plugs directly into the mother board, the graphics seem better then my old computer but it doesn't have a yellow socket that I can plug directly into my TV which is a shame because I quite often use it for DVD's & games on a bigger screen. Can I transfer my old graphics card, and only use it when I want to use the yellow plug and keep the old monitor plugged into the mother board? Also it only comes with a 30 GB hard drive, instead of transferring all my files onto an external, can I just take out the old hard drive and slot it into the secondary drive port? Transferring all my files with it? I'm worried that just taking it out of one computer into another might corrupt them, or the operating system on the drive might conflict with the one installed on DELL. Thanks!
A: As long as your graphic card fits the slot on the motherboard it should be fine. Do some research, see if your motherboard has an "AGP", "PCI" or "PCI-E" slot and find out what slot your card fits into. If you have the right slot then it should be fine. Sometimes you will need to go into the bios to disable the onboard graphics processor though. Yes but stick your hard drive into the primary slot as to boot up from it.
