Where can I find a step-down transformer for my desktop computer? ?

Q: So that's a 220V Desktop Computer and a 110 Outlet. I am looking for something good and not with an over-whelming price, online or better yet somewhere in Canada. (More specifically Sudbury, ON)

A: I am guessing you have a computer from Europe, 220v 50hz? You not only have to change the voltage you have to need to adjust the hertz. Canada is 110v 60hz. You did not mention your wattage requirements or if you needed something for a monitor also. But my guess would be something in the 500 watt range. Not going to be cheap. A lot of computers have a switch on the power supply that changes them between 220v & 110v. It is a red slider. Then you would just need a cord available in any office supply or computer store. If it is not there my second suggestion would be to switch out the power supply with a 110volt one. That wouldnot take very long and the cost should not be over $50 unless you have an unusual computer.
