Q: what do both do ? lets say if i wanna make my PC faster, alot of people say to upgrade your RAM wat about upgrading your processor ? what is more inportant to make a computer faster, upgrade the processor or upgrade the RAM ?
A: 1.Upgrading your processor, is more difficult than just upgrading ram memory. It's also more expensive. You have to know what is the fastest, best processor your motherboard will support,(Use). Does your motherboard only support a single core processor? What processor socket does it use? What is the maximum Front Side Bus speed for a processor, that the motherboard will support? What kind of processor? AMD or Intel? You may have a Intel processor that has a frequency speed of 2.5GHz, and can only upgrade to a 2.8GHz. This will give you nothing of great value, as far as a performance increase, but will lighten your wallet considerably! 2.Ram is a cheap increase for performance. Upgrading from 512MB's to 2GB's will be something you'll notice. Be aware though, that the performance increase you'll see, will be noticed more towards programs,(Games for example), and applications, with only a slight increase when on the internet. Does all this sound like, "Say What", to you? If you email me your computer name and model number, I'll email you back as to what you can install, or change to increase performance. Tell me what you expect out of your computer. That is, what will it be used for mainly? Messenger? Gamin'? Just surfin' the internet? Edit: Comparison of two Intel processors. Intel Pentium 4, model 540J, that operates at 3.2GHz, to a Intel Core2 Duo E4500. 1.The Intel Pentium 4, model 540J has 1 processor core. This core operates at 3.2 GigaHertz. It has 1MB of L2 cache, and an 800 MegaHertz FSB. 2.The Intel Core2 Duo E4500 has TWO processor cores operating at 2.2GHz-> EACH. 2MB's of L2 cache, and an 800MHz Front Side Bus. The E4500 is 40% faster than the Pentium 4 at 3.2GHz. 40%!
