Q: I'm looking for a multimedia PC to dedicate to music (iTunes and streaming radio), satellite TV recording/delay, and gaming to a lessor degree. Dual core w/4 GB RAM seems to be max power in the mini chasses out there. I'm more familiar w/old "single core" RAM needs. Is 4 GB enough power allowing for software advancement with the dual core processor? Thanks much for input!
A: Are you sure 4GB ram? Im swear 3GB is the highest, anyway even 2GB is more than enough for what you need, if its really 4GB then lucky you lol, thats more than perfect. But itunes only requires about 200mb of that memory, I run itunes on a 1GB ram and no problems, 2GB is sufficient for satellite recording, and for gaming its the graphics card that makes the difference, again 2GB is enough for games at the moment. A dual core processor on the other hand is standard now, that just means its faster because a single processor would overheat so two evens out the energy usage and makes your pc faster. But if its just for music, I would suggest a normal pc with good specs for a 100 or so less and use that for one excellent heavy bassed speakers! And 5.1 surround sound at least, 2.1 won't do much justice!
