Q: My specs are Asus p5q pro (using ai suite to see temps) hd4870 q6600 w/ no oc (2.4) + stock cooling (g0 steppings) 2gb ram The idle temps are excellent (30-20* Celsius) but like i said, as soon as i run a torture test (prime95, folding@home) it hikes up 40+ degrees within a minute. Is that normal or did i do something wrong?
A: wow 60+ celcius is killing your core i cannot believe that cpu still runs at 80 that is not normal at all that is horribe cooling if you can buy another fan for your comp or a few they are cheap about $10 or a 120mm i think the issue is not enough fans to move air out of your pc or you can try cleaning your stock cpu fan there is probably a fair amount of dust on there espicially if its on a carpet and animals are around and if you do get more fans and clean it and it dont work maybe the thermal paste has gone bad that has happend to me before so there some help and if all else fails go buy a custom cooling fan for your cpu
