Q: my computer: intel core2quad 2.4ghz 2gb ram 320gb hdd SATA gigabyte motherboard 8800gts 320mb dvd burner. was running xp for a while, everything works fine, then bought vista and upgraded the computer. Vista keeps crashing, so i tried go back to windows XP,. did a clean installation, everything works fine, but when i install the graphics card driver, the screen flasheds to black then comes back to desktop, with black lines going across the screen. ithought its could be something wrong, so i format and install again, same keeps happening, i need help anyone know how to fix? i've tried all that, uninstalling the old drivers, and using the drivers on the cd, still doesnt help. i might wanna add that, when i boot up the comp, and the gigabyte screen boots up, it has dotted verticle lines going through the screen too, also happens on windows loading screen. hope my graphics card is not dead =[
A: Try using older drivers. These can be found by just using the CD that came with your graphics card, or by searching for them on Google. I used the disc for my 8800GTS 512MB and it worked fine after. When I was installing the most recent drivers, it would get stuck on 800x600 and wouldn't allow me to change the colour depth from 4-bit. So uninstalling your drivers by going through Add/Remove Programs and then installing older ones for the 8800GTS would be my recommendation.
