Vista USB 2.0 Issues?

Q: i have vista ultimate with 4 working usb 2.0 ports when usb 2.0 is enabled none of my usb devices work but when i disable usb 2.0 they all work fine, anyone know how to resolve this issue

A: Hello, (ANS) This sounds like a USB 2.0 system driver issue. Your machine will have a single USB card installed inside the machine which has x4 slots or ports. Vista needs or will have a USB system driver that is associated with this USB card, it is this device driver that needs replacing or re-installing. You should try & find out who the maker of the USB card is and try and find the drivers for this. Re-installing the USB drivers for the card should fix this but please make certain the drivers are written specifically for Vista or it could make matters worse. **Also check this USB 2.0 card is physically installed correctly, it could be badly seated inside the base unit. If you know what your doing I would open up the base unit and check the card is fixed in the slot firmly. You could even remove it & re-seat it too make certain? Ivan. computer veteran.
