My microphone wont work?

Q: Hello, my microphone recently worked before my dad reformatted the computer. At the back of my PC it has 3 holes, pink , green and blue. I have 5 speakers and a sub , (surround sound) and when i plug the three cords connected to speakers it works, but when i unplug them and put my microphone things (one green end for sound and one pink end for talking) it wont let me talk, it will only let me hear through the headphones, (I attached pictures to end of this for more help) Please email me at Haydensmsn@hotmail.com or just respond here PICTURES http://i290.photobucket.com/albums/ll262/cujo455/MICROPHONEPROBS001.jpg Its a Labtec microphone http://i290.photobucket.com/albums/ll262/cujo455/MICROPHONEPROBS002.jpg Thats the back of my pc http://i290.photobucket.com/albums/ll262/cujo455/MICROPHONEPROBS003.jpg thats the front . see the 2 holes, but they are not connected to anything http://i290.photobucket.com/albums/ll262/cujo455/MICROPHONEPROBS006.jpg And picture of the comp inside Thanks in advance

A: Try Start->Settings->Control Panel-> Sounds And Audio Devices Under the Audio tab, make sure there's a device listed for Sound Recording. Hit the Volume button in that section, make sure the mike volume is at least 50%, but most importantly, that the "select" box is checked.
