Need help with choosing a video card for my PC?

Q: I have a Dell E521 and after a little looking around the net, i found that the highest video card compatible with it is the ATI Radeon X1300. i just need it to help with an upcoming game named Spore, and as of right now, the chipset included with my PC can barely play the Creature Creator. I haven't been the most tech-savvy individual, so i don't know if any video card will work or if has to be the card listed above. so my question is, Am i making a wise decision in trying to get this for my PC, or should i just wait until i can get a proper gaming PC? yeah i know that the X1300 is bad for gaming, but after checking out specifications for the E521, its the highest it goes as for compatibility.

A: i recommend a radeon 4870 if you want gaming 1300 is REALLY old (but better than the one i have) but for spore, all you need is maybe a radeon 3850 and any card will work with your motherboard (im assuming that you have a pci-e slot, not an agp)
