Q: Whats a good video card that will run cod4 smoothly,im thinking of making a computer, plz give me some advice on that to so you saying good value for 8800gt?
A: Call of Duty 4 has a very good engine and doesn't need as a powerful card as people think. A lot of Cards will run it well. I could run it in highest in 7900 GS and it was perfect. I think that an 8800 GT would be a good option because of value for money and performance. Some thing like this would be good card to go for: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-035-GI&groupid=701&catid=56&subcat=1008&name=Gigabyte%20GeForce%208800%20GT%20OC%20512MB%20GDDR3%20HDTV/Dual%20DVI%20(PCI-Express)%20-%20Retail%20(GV-NX88T512HP) That particular GT has very good reviews and would run COD4 like a dream. A GTX would also give you good performance and are a lot cheaper than they used to be because of the 9x series. It would also get better fps on newer games such as Crysis and would be a bit more future proof but wouldn't be a substantial amount. http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-031-EA&groupid=701&catid=56&subcat=1008&name=EVGA%20GeForce%208800%20GTX%20768MB%20GDDR3%20HDTV/Dual%20DVI%20(PCI-Express)%20-%20Retail%20(768-P2-E831-AR) If you want a card that will run COD4, be future proof and have something to show off would be something like a 9800 GTX which have recently dropped in price by quite a bit. I have one and i love it, it runs cool for a new gen card and gets very good fps. (I never drop below 70 on Cod4) I have this one and i would recommend it: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-067-GW&groupid=701&catid=56&subcat=1009&name=Gainward%20GeForce%209800%20GTX%20512MB%20GDDR3%20TV-Out/Dual%20DVI%20(PCI-Express)%20-%20Retail If you want to go for an ATI option then a 3x series would be good for value and performance, the first review on this card is 'great card at a very good price. drivers installed first go and started up COD4 and it looks fantastic. much happiness with this card.' So can't go wrong really :P http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-145-AS&tool=3 And an option that you could show off would be a 4870 or a 4870x2. Recently people have said that they are better than the Nvidia cards in terms of performance. I would recommend http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-100-HT&groupid=701&catid=56&subcat=939&name=HIS%20ATI%20Radeon%20HD%204870%20512MB%20GDDR5%20TV-Out/Dual%20DVI/HDMI%20(PCI-Express)%20-%20Retail For what you want if you are willing to spend a bit more money. But yeah if all you want to do is run Cod4 and aren't really worried about future proofing your system an 8800GT is perfect. Good Luck with you build :D
