Q: I need to upgrade my two hard drives in my system (powermac G5 2.0ghz 2004 release) My question is what's that max capacity hard drives I can use? I have checked on apples website and they only mentioned physical dimensions nothing about capacity. Q: I would like to install 2 1tb drives, but I wonder if this is possible, or is it best to go with two 750gb drives. Or can I install one, 1tb and one 750gb drive? Q: Would 2 1tb drives cause an increase in heating? If so is my powermac model capable of handling to two big drives? Q: What's the best way to upgrade a hard drive, do I save everything from drive 1 to my 2nd drive, then install the new drive in bay 1 and boot with an install disc? Or is there another, easier way of going about this? Is there a way to make a back up of everything on my main bootup hardrive? Thanks for the help. Any helpfull links would be good. Also does anyone know of a place to get a good deal on hard drives? Thanks One more thing, which manufacturer makes the best drives? I hear Maxtor isn't very good, can you please recommend a good drive maker?
A: I have the same problem. Please keep me posted as well if you get a good answer. I know a woman who owned a Mac shop. She told me the best hard drives were Hitachi - never had any problems with them. We recently purchase a 1TB Hitachi for a PC. Are they available for this G5 Mac?
