Help merging C:/ drive with unallocated space.?

Q: My C:/ says that it is only the size of 120GB, and when i go into my disk manager I have 170GB of unallocated space. How would i go about extending the C:/ drive to use the remainder of the free space. I know I could have two partitions and use it alright, but sadly i don't want to organize and have some files on one volume, and some on the other. What I really want to do, is merge the C:/ drive with the unallocated dick space without having to purchase a disk managementt program. Freeware would be fine, but one that is reliable. I should have mentioned that I was using XP, could you recommend me some software that is preferably free that works? Thanks again for the quick reply.

A: On XP you would need a partition manager. Vista can remove the free space partition from its' own disk manager, and then expand the remaining partition.
