What is the problem with my RAM?

Q: I bought a new RAM which is 1 GB DDR1 PC3200 DIMM. when I fixed it first day it worked great. Then after two days it was not working I mean my computer starts and CPU also works but no output from monitor. Does it have any problem with Video Card or RAM? but When I put my old RAM it works. My video Card is Nvidia FX5500 256 MB DDR1................any answer would be appreciated. And another think my RAM becomes very hot after little time. To Computer geek. I know that which RAM I need. but May be u are correct that ::::::: how much speed my motherboard can handle. Thanks

A: I have a feeling the memory you bought died. Seeing as it worked fine the first couple of days. There is always about a week of holding your breath when you install new hardware because this is usually the time period that its being broken in. If it doesn't fail within the first week normally your in the green. Your memory should have a warranty. If you have another computer that takes the same memory type you can try it in there to make sure. Also make sure the memory you got matches the correct voltage for your motherboard. It getting hot like that makes me think the voltage was to high for it.
