Q: I recently checked my new computer that I ordered and I thought I put 4gbs of RAM in it but when I check my system information it says I only have 2.3GB. I opened up my computer and took one of the sticks out and it says 1 gb on it. but i have 4 of them in 4 slots. since there are four slots with each of them having 1 gig of memory, shouldn't I be getting 4gigs of RAM? or are 2 of those slots for something else? I am aware too that the 32-bit vista operating system maxes out at 4 but i know it doesn't turn 4gbs into 2gbs, because thats too low. so can someone give me an idea of whats going on with it cus its not making sense why it shows up as 2 gigs when i see 4 of them in my computer.
A: What you saw on your computer description is something like: dual 3b 2gb ram.. the dual does not mean it multiplies your 2gb ram by two.
