Q: My D drive has 108 G left on the hard drive. However my C space only has 37 G. I don't know much about computers so I am not sure if I can transfer some of the space from my D drive over to my C drive. Any help would be appreciated!
A: D: drive usually refers to your CD / DVD player, but if you say you have 108 GB space on it, you must have a dual disk arrangement, so why don't you just transfer some files from the C: drive or just save future files on to the D: drive? The only way you can increase the space on your C: drive is to replace the existing hard drive with one of a larger capacity, however, the price of external hard drives has reduced dramatically over the last year or two and you could probably add another 500 or 1,000 GB for a lot less than the cost of increasing your internal device. Before you buy any additional capacity, a good way of using the space you already have more efficiently is to remove the unnecessary files which all computers accumulate through normal usage. If you click on Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Disc Cleanup this will show you a surprising amount of files that you can safely remove. If you want to do a more thorough job, try downloading ccleaner at http://www.ccleaner.com . You can also remove any unwanted applications by clicking on Start > Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs but make sure these aren't needed before you do remove them.
