hard drive installation?

Q: Let me explain my current situation. I have a portable hard drive with information on it that I'd like to transfer to my desktop. However, there is a problem with the portable hard drive's USB connection. I'm going to send it in to be replaced, but would like to recover the information on it before I do so. I was told that to do this I would need to open the portable hard drive up and directly connect it to the desktop. Now I'm unfamiliar when it comes to hard drive connections and was wondering how I would go about connecting it internally to the desktop. The model # on the hard drive is MHV2120AH. This is the link to the website for it: http://www.fujitsu.com/us/services/computing/storage/hdd/mobile/mhv2120ah.html The desktop I'm trying to install it on is a Dell Dimension 4550 Some help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

A: I believe you may be able to use this device to connect it to your computers through and IDE connection like your hard drive uses. Be aware you may need to snip an extra wire off the adapter read the comments. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812119245
