Overclocking questions...

Q: 1: whats the point? Seems redundent to ask just...im curious.. 2: how much of a performance boost can i get out of it? 3: I don't know a 3 just...yeah

A: 1) Overclocking can increase the speed of your processor. This is useful, well, because increased speed means your processor can do more in less time. Overclocking a 1.5ghz processor up to 2ghz, will allow it to handle more operations at the cost of increased heat output. If you have an old system that you want a little more from, you can try overclocking. This can be very dangerous if you don't know what you're doing, and literally might melt parts of you computer if you don't cool it properly, since, as stated, it creates a lot of heat. 2) You can get as much of a performance boost as your system can disperse the heat from. If your system stars to overheat, you can look at getting better fans, or other cooling systems. Unless you can invest in a good cooling system, it's not really going to be advantageous, since the limitations of overclocking are so great. If you can get a good cooling system, then you might be able to double your processor speed, or even more.
