Q: Hey guys I want to replace my HDD to something bigger and better. Apparently my HDD has kicked the bucket and it tells me it needs to be replace fast. So I want to go from 160 to lets say 500gb =) but what are the downfall of getting a HDD that has alot of space? So my questions are... 1).Buy getting a bigger HDD will this slow my computer more? 2).What are the requirements when upgrading the HDD? 3).I notice that some have different rpm speeds, is it best to just get the fastest one? any more information that I might need to know I would really appreciate it! thnx
A: 1). It should actually speed up your computer initially, as it can write the same amount of data further away from the centre of the plater, which means it's not having to spin as much. It'll also give you more room for virtual memory. 2). Just make sure you get the right (physical) size for your case and the right connection type (most computers made within the last few years will have SATA connectors). 3). Obviously the faster the better, but you want to make sure you get it from a reputable manufacturer with a decent warranty.
