Q: i play my games at a resolution of 1440x900. in half-life 2 with everything maxed out, i only get 58 fps when i should be getting atleast double that. What's wrong with my computer? i have 4 gigs of ram, an amd athlon x2 6400 , and the 4870. i have the latest drivers from atis website. ive read articles showing that 120 fps is very capable at my max resolution. and i am getting only 10-15 fps in crysis.
A: vsync limiting it to 60Mhz refresh rate? Furthermore, practically graphic card are limited by CPU as well, there are overhead processing done by CPU and your GPU have to wait for these instructions to finish executing before it can render your graphics AMD x2 isn't exactly a top notch CPU
