Q: I don't know if it matters.I'm have a Compaq Presario SR1218NX - Running Windows Xp Sp3. What do you recommend as far as a Mother Board, Processor, Ram that are compatible with each other? Will this help my performance? I'm looking to run programs faster, and fast internet speed,Video Quality.Would like to run many programs at once without delay or slowness.Any other comments or suggestions would be appreciated, Thanks LOL Thats funny
A: I don't know about hardware changes, but a simple way I boost performance on my low end XP machine is by running smaller, lighter applications than the ones people commonly use. For instance I use VLC Media Player instead of WMP, Pidgin instead of Yahoo Messenger, and Xmplayer instead of winamp. if you go to http://www.sourceforge.net you can find stuff like what I'm talking about.The common apps, just get more and more bloated with each revision, and they really slow things down tremendously.
