Q: I'm using a Toshiba notebook about 3 years old (Satellite Series) and have noticed a problem lately. Whenever the cooling fan in the notebook revs up (as opposed to idle-spinning), the frames-per-second drop WAY down to about 3-4 fps. This is a problem with any graphics-intensive operation (even lowly flash games). This doesn't effect light-duty software like Word Processingor browsing. Is this normal? If its not normal, is there anything I can do about it (except get new hardware)?
A: This sounds like it might be relevant (see link to forum thread below). Apparently you need to install a new BIOS and graphics card driver?
