Q: im confused here with tha whole processor conecpt, a processor has a company, a brand and a model i mean for example, Intel Core2 Quad Inside is Intel tha company? is Core2 tha brand? or model ? is Inside tha model or brand or company ? same with Intel Pentium 4 and Pentium D Intel Inside Intel Pentium Intel Core2 Core duo AMD Phenom AMD Semphron AMD this AMD that Intel this Intel that i mean, when speaking about processors, which is tha model, tha brand, tha company, etc etc ??? and what are tha numbers at tha end are of some processors ? please help -i was born nov.12.1989
A: I'm a intel person so i'll tell you about intel stuff. intel= company Pentium, core2duo, core2quad, core2quad extreme=brands also tell you number of cores. then a number core2duo=E than 6 if it is a 65nm* chip or 8 if it is a 45nm chip than three more digits ie 400 the higher those three digits the higher the clockspeed. core2quad=Q than 6 if it is a 65nm* chip or 9 if it is a 45nm chip than three more digits ie 300 the higher those three digits the higher the clockspeed. core2quad extreme=QX than 6 if it is a 65nm* chip or 9 if it is a 45nm chip than three more digits ie 775 the higher those three digits the higher the clockspeed. then it's clock speed which is the speed the processor runs at, the higher the better i.e 2.5ghz the higher the better. Pentium= single processing core two types Pentium 4 and Pentium d are basically the same core2duo=two processing cores. this is a tricky part, lets say we have two processors pentium at 2.6ghz and a core2duo at 1.6ghz. which is better? the core2 duo! even though the pentium has a higher clock speed the core2duo has 2 cores at which act like two processors in one chip so it really has the power of a pentium at 3.2ghz if not more! core2quad= four processing cores so it's like 4 processors in one. core2quadextreme= basically a core2quad with faster clock speeds and some extra features for overclocking, a thing where you can increase the clock speed of a processor so it runs faster, but it will generate more heat so if it doesn't have good cooling it will overheat. * 65nm and 45nm are both manufacturing techniques for building chips. nm stand for nano meters and measures the size of the transistors on the chip. 45nm chips normally run faster and cooler than 65nm chips and cost the same if not less.
