Very important! Does anyone know what is happening to my computer?

Q: OK heres the deal.. When u click on start and then computer and view your disc space. mine went from saying 97gb free of 228gb... (which was like a few weeks ago).... then yesterday it went to 27gb free of 228gb.. I was like ok.. I need to start uninstalling programs I never use.. So I unistalled like 5.. Then it went to 20gb.. then I unistalled more and NOW its at 13.3gb.. I have no clue WHY its doing this.. The line right above the usage used to be green now its red.. Im using Vista.. And I have Norton 360 virus protection and have scanned everything is fine. No viruses.. Nothing is wrong that way.. So is like my hard drive going bad or something?? Does anyone know anything I should do? Or what could be causing this?? THANKS IN ADVANCE! to everyone... for all ur help and advice... :) uumm.. I dont know how to turn off and on system restore. Dont know where or what that is really.. Um. I dont believe I have anything set to dl automatically except updates to pc. Im trying to locate user area and im not seeing it yet.. I have however started deleting music files from my cds that were in here and old pictures stored in programs I already unistalled and now its gaining its up to 14.8... Sooo what does this mean? If deleting pics and music is making it go down. could it just be I got way too much junk on my pc? I just cant see how that would be though.. b/c when I right click on my music & pic folders for properties, the amount Im using for them is NO where near 83 bg! lol.. To have that much missing from just a few weeks ago.. thats really freakish... sorry.. that would be 83gb...... not bg... :)

A: The problem is that something is writing files to your hard drive. Uninstalling programs is not going to help you. My guess is that you have something set to download automatically. Are you recording radio programs? Tv programs? Podcasts? Anything you like to watch/listen to that you've set for automatic update. You might consider getting this program (it's not free, but it will help you): http://www.bestvistadownloads.com/software/t-free-disk-usage-analysis-tool-download-jqwdbwfv.html You need to start looking at your filesystems, particularly in your User area. I would consider disconnecting from the internet until you figure it out. If your hd fills, your system won't work.
