Q: I've been looking for a cheap computer to record my music with. My friends computer got a virus instead of fixing it he got a new computer. He gave me the old one and said if i can fix it i can have it. I'm not very computer saavy, but i want to know if all i have to do is erase the hard drive and start over, and if that's the case how do i do it. If it's not, what do i do?
A: You could try reformatting the hard drive. This usually takes care of things, and it will run just fine. Follow the directions it comes with and when it asks about partitions, delete the existing one and create a new one for the operating system to go on. If it doesn't, you could just buy a new hard drive to put into the computer [you would most likely have to install an operating system on it, though].
