Q: I just bought a netgear wireless router for my apartment so that my roommate can pick up wireless on her laptop but I can't get the internet to work when its plugged in and ready to go? Has anyone else had this problem or any suggestions? I when along with the prompts with the cd that they gave me. The roommate is using it for school. When I have just the modem plugged in I get internet but when i configure the router the internet doesn't work at all.
A: Whats your roommate doing on the computer? just to make sure... modem plugs into router... you plug into router.. signal is encrypted and roommate picks up signal with password. system refuses to work when he's connected? Return it and get a new one. be sure you're connected with a regular cat5/6 cable.. and not a crossover cable.
