Q: I have an extra 8400 Vga card. I DO NOT want to do an SLI configuration. But im intrested to know if i can put that PCIE card into one of the PCIE slots and will the card work. My intrest will be attach 3 seperate monitors to the computer just out of technical curiosity. Is this possible without the SLI factor. Hmm. excellent answer below. Thanks.
A: Yes, as long as your computer can handle the additional power usage, and that the motherboard can use the 8400 card. You do not need to run SLI, its only an option (plus running SLI eliminates any displays except for your primary monitor). Just make sure that both cards are running using the same set of drivers (found on NVIDIA's site), otherwise you could run into some technical problems.
