help my compuiter wont read my dvd r??????

Q: my dvd r cant be read, they say it might be corrupted or not formatted i needded this to burn some movies but it also says it might not support the format what can i do it wont work when i went on my compuiter and tried opening the dvd r thats empty it said this: Windows cannot read from this disc. The disc might be corrupted, or it could be using a formatthat is not compatiable with windows. fastest and best answer is 10 points

A: Ok, first of all you need to have a DVD-ROM drive on your computer. Second, you need to be sure that your DVD disc is a good disc that you know works (maybe it works on a different computer). If the disc your referring to just came out of its package then it should be in working condition. However, If the DVD disc you are referring to is a BLANK DVD, than it obviously can't be read because there is nothing on it. If you know the DVD disc is blank and you are trying to put something on it. Then you need to use a program like "Nero", "Roxio", or any other DVD Burning software to put data on the disc. You cannot open a BLANK DVD from the DVD-Rom drive if there is nothing on it. But you can put something on it using a DVD burning software. Only then can the disc be read from the DVD-ROM drive.
