A: Tune up2008 doesn't do alot. I tried it. A couple of free programs that do help and you have to run them one at a time. so it will take some time but it will help. First off, I hope you have an antivirus program in your pc. Even a free program. Try AVG8 download, install and let it scan your computer and remove what it tells you it doesn't like. Leave it in your computer running. It won't slow you down. Next download Ad-Aware (make sure you have the dash in there) the program is from Lavasoft. Use the free version. Download it and let it scan your computer and remove what it doesn't like.. There will be stuff. You can then uninstall that(I am fighting for space so I take them out when they are done) with the add/remove program Next look for Spybot Search&Destroy - download that, update it (which is a little bit tricky to do) and don't install TeaTimer if you can avoid it. It seems to have problems that I don't want to go into. Then let Spybot scan the computer and take out what it can. Now this next one works wonders(much better than defragging the computer) It is a registry cleaner. I use RegistryFirstAid. It was the first one I ever tried and seems to be the best one for variety of problems without screwing up the pc or its connections. Use the trial version which will find all the problems(lets say 100) but will only repair 10 of them(because it is the Trial version) That is fair. But there is nothing stopping me from rescanning it again and removing 10 of the 90(or 10 of the 80) and so on till I have 0. I am still testing the program for I have no idea if it will improve my computer speed. Once I am down to eliminating all of the registry errors and quit the program, do I close it up and restart my computer. No hicups, no burps, it just works great.
