Q: Am i better off going with a 2.4 GHz quad core or a 3.0 to 3.16 dual core???? i do moderate gaming and some mulititasking.
A: One of the factor for choosing CPU is the application that you use. For gaming, both CPU doesn`t make much noticeable different, you should also need to consider a better video card and LOT of memory (enough memory to minimize the swapping requests, 4GB+ if possible). For normal applications, frankly, u`re not using a lot of CPU power unless u do graphical or 3D modeling applications. However, one of my concern on choosing CPU is the heating issue. make sure u have good cooling system if you turn your computer on for long hours (I use PC at least 16 hrs a day, so in summer hot day and during the boss kill, u not want to see your PC crash). so, my personal choice is 2.4GHz Quad. PLUS 4 to 6GB of RAM PLUS a reasonablely good video card.
