A: E8500 is just a 65 watter. 8800GT draws about 40W in 2D mode and 80W in 3D mode. The rest of your set up will only probably exceed 150W in DVD burn mode (but cpu and gpu will be below max). I bet your rig will never hit 400W on wall socket. Your 500W PSU should run cool all day long. A bigger unit just gives you plenty of elbow room for future upgrades. A pretty bare set up w/ 8800GT 512Mb paired with an overclocked Q6600 quadcore only hits 280 watts in test below.
