Help, Quick! Windows Vista can't detect my sound card.?

Q: I've installed Vista a few times, and usually the audio levels icon displays "No audio output devices detected" for a short amount of time, before clicking over and letting me use my speakers. I'm running Windows Vista Home Basic on an Acer Aspire T310, 2014MB RAM, Phoenix AwardBIOS v6.00PG, Celeron 2.60gHz processor. It was never "I want it now". I have tried device manager. I have tried installing dozens of new drivers and device managers. Don't assume you know what I've done just because I'm asking for help.

A: do windows update, u might see that a few updates are not installed (errors) but keep updating until all are installed. U might need to do it 2 or 3 times. Vista needs these updates espeacially after reinstalling windows.
