Q: Anyone know what I'm talking about? It then says: "You can attempt to repair this file by starting Windows Setup using the original Set-up CD-rom. I don't HAVE this CD-rom! Am I completely screwed??!
A: Probably not. Your data is another story though... First try rebooting, hit f8 as it's booting. You'll see a list. first try "load last known good configuration." See if it boots up. If that doesn't work hit f8 as it's booting again, this time try safe mode. If it boots up in safe mode, click on start, accessories, system tools, then system restore. run that, restore it to an earlier date. If that doesn't work, it's time to restore. Since you don't have a disk, I'm betting your restore disk is hidden away on your hard drive. You access a restore program by hitting a key, usually f10 or f11, depending on who made it, as it's booting up. This will launch a restore program and it will put your computer back the way it was the day you bought it. This will fix it, but most likely your saved stuff, music or pictures will be gone. If your computer is less than three years old, this is the case, they stopped shipping restore cd's and started hiding them on hard drives.
