Overclocking My system?

Q: Trouble overclocking my system it's fast but i wanted to try to speed it up see how it runs. When i go to overclock my cpu atleast to 2.40ghz the computer won't even start or when i go to overclock the ram the computer won't even start i have to reset the computer whyis that.
