Upgrading my PC, NEED HELP!?

Q: Okay its time to upgrade my hardware and my computer is custom. I recently installed Windows Vista Home Basic on my PC with the following components: I have a Gigabyte GA-k8nsc-939, which I'm guessing needs to be replaced. I have only 512MB memory on it and I know I need more. The problem is that the mb uses only DDR400 memory and they are pretty expensive compared to the DDR2. I also have a AMD Athlon 64 bit processor 3200+ and overclocked to 2.6Ghz. So my question is should I change my whole mb to something compatible with DDR2 and buy a 2GB memory ram to save myself money in the future and get better results? Also if I do do that, should I also change my processor? I don't use my computer for gaming, just daily student tasks and video streaming. Please give me a trustful website where I can get the products at a great price. Thanks In Advance. 10 Points Awarded to Best Answer!!! It was a last second decision for getting Vista and it was urgent so please just stick to answering the question and not telling me to downgrade to XP or anything like that.

A: that hardware is some what old......if you your gonna upgrade do it right.....new mobo, ddr2 supported and a new cpu...... that way your caught up, for a little bit anyway.........you could do the whole new pc, or just swap the mobo and new cpu into your current case......might wanna look into new hdd,s.....you can use your optical drive yet even if its a ide connection.....and get no less than 2 gigs of ram for running vista...corsair,ocz and patriot make very good ram......good luck....oh, i buy all my parts here, good trusted site, and fast delivery.....sign up for there news letter so ya dont miss any specials they got going on..........scott.. http://www.newegg.com/Index.aspx?CMP=KNC-Overtur3&ATT=Branding
