Q: This is my second DVD writer. There's either a pin bent in my motherboard's IDE socket or I'm doing something wrong. I only use it for watching DVD's most of the time, but it would be ice if I could use DVD's instead of CD's for my backing up. Thanks to all helpers. That should be nice....
A: Hi, if you mean DVD-ROM , no they don't need to be formatted and you can just connect it via IDE or in newer version SATA connection. If you mean DVDs, sometimes when you want to write you should format it first, mostly -RW or +RW Good luck
