Faking a dying, f#@ked computer?

Q: Ok... This is of a highly dubious nature, I know, but it's the real world, what you gonna do? (shrug shoulders for effect) My ageing computer is lumbering on, getting slower, able to run less and less new stuff. I believe it's time to buy a new computer, however my girlfriend sees this differently. As long as it's working, we don't need the expense, especially as there are bills to pay. I concede, her point, but ooh, dual core, 4 gb of ram...ooh. So what I want to do is fake my computers death. I realise the dubious moral nature of this move, but hey, she buys stuff and keeps it hidden in the car, then sneaks it in the house when I'm not looking. Two wrongs do make a right. Fact. So how can I convince her that it's bust? It will hit her particularly hard if she cannot Ebay or buy shoes. She has less than no technical knowledge. I'll have replaced the computer in a matter of days, so she'll soon be buying crud again, so it's almost a victim-less crime. Almost.

A: Open up the case and you will see cables. There will be a cable next to a fan on a metal object called a heatsink. Pull this cable. It should be a LARGE cable. There is also a small one. If you pull this your computer will overheat in about 20mins as this powers the fan. The large cable will be connected to a large box at the top of the case. Pull this cable from the motherboard. It will take a good amount of force. Don't worry about stuff breaking. When its out the computer will not turn on. All you have to do is put it back in(again it takes a lot of force) and the computer will turn right back on. Here is a picture i uploaded to freewebs. http://www.freewebs.com/picsfor33/pullthis.jpg I better get best answer for this.
