Q: I have a sony ericsson w580i, and my computer simply won't recognize it. I have no idea why. The phone itself knows that it is connected, and it charges from my computer. Problem is, my computer doesn't know that the phone is plugged in, and so I can't put any music/videos onto it. :( I am almost sure my USB port is fine, I've plugged my ipod into it and it works well, no problems. It's just the phone. I remember last time I tried plugging it in, it still failed but after a system restart, it worked. This time, I tried restarting and still, it didn't work. Are there any drivers I have to know about? To install? Please help, I have NO idea what's wrong!
A: more than likely you need to upgrade your drivers. go to your phone manufactorer's website and see if they have it there. Or you can go to google and search, "Sony Ericsson w580i Drivers," and download them like that. but do not have the phone plugged in while installing the drivers. this could lead to problems in the install. when its complete just plug it back in and it should show the "Found new hardware" thing. Wait until it says Your hardware is installed and now ready to be used before you start putting stuff on it.
